Henri Willig was born and raised in Katwoude. In 1974 Henri and his wife Riet took over the farm business from his parents and learned how to make cheese. Henri has been producing high quality, traditionally prepared cheese on a daily basis for the last 40 years and his passion for creating such superb cheese has won him several competition prizes in places such as London, Nantwich and Wisconsin. Henri Willig cheeses therefore enjoy worldwide recognition!  


Experience the famous Dutch cheeses during the Cheese Tasting by Henri Willig. You will learn all about how those delicious Henri Willig cheeses are being made, why the Dutch are so into this dairy product and you get to taste 5 different types yourself.

The tasting room is situated right in the centre of Amsterdam. During the 45 minute experience, our story teller in traditional Dutch costume tells all there is to know about Dutch cheese. You will see a movie, subtitled in the language of your choice, where Mr. Henri Willig himself welcomes you and explains about cheese making. After this you are going to taste 5 different flavours of our self-produced cheese in combination with mustard dip. Accompanied with some local brewed beer and/or tasty wines, you will get to understand why the Dutch are so fond of their cheeses.

After the cheese tasting, you will receive a discount voucher that entitles you to a 10% discount in the shop.

From Amsterdam Central Station: In a southerly direction via the Damrak and Rokin. Approximately 25 minutes.

Trams from Central Station: 4, 9 & 14, 16, 24 & 25. Trams 9 and 14 get out at the Rembrandtplein. Trams 4, 16, 24 and 25 get out at the Muntplein or Vijzelstraat. Metro from Central Station: 51, 53 & 54 Get out at the Waterlooplein.

If you love cheese, this is worth trying. We didn't try as many different cheeses as I thought, but it nevertheless explains the production process and differences between cheese types, and you get to try some awesome cheeses
