Flowerfields and Keukenhof + Bulbfarm

4 out of 5 stars (3 reviews)

This tour gives an insight of the Dutch tulips. On the way to the Keukenhof, we will drive by beautiful flowerfields full of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Right before we arrive at the Keukenhof, we will visit a bulb farm, where an explanation is given about the bulb industry. After the bulb farm, we will continue the tour to the Keukenhof, where millions of bulbs are displayed in a wonderful park with fantastic flower shows and sculptures.

This colourful tour takes us through the outstanding flowerfields in the direction of the Keukenhof, the worlds largest flower garden. Inside the Keukenhof gardens there will be plenty of time to admire this beautiful internationally renowned display of all sorts of flowers in a relaxed way.

There are about seven million different bulbs planted each year, including a wide variety of tulips, hyacinths, orchids, daffodils, lilies and crocuses. Especially the tulip displays are breathtaking; there are more then 700 different varieties.

There is also a large collection of sculptures and works of art scattered throughout the Keukenhof garden. Dont miss the Keukenhof windmill which provides an excellent vantage point to take pictures.

The bulbfarm was interesting and Keukenof was fantastic; however, the bus ride was intolerable. My wife and I couldn't sit together unless we sat backwards, at the table in the front of the bus. There is absolutely no leg room under the table with people sitting across from us. Eventually, we had to move to separate seats for the rest of the trip. It seems that people that come together all want window seats. Looking back, we would have taken the regular bus service to Keukenof and not pay for a "tour".

I enjoyed the visit to the bulb farm and the Keukenhof gardens very much. The amount of time at both places was just right. Also the guide's commentary on the way was very good, interesting and helpful, not too much information. My only complaints are about the organisation of the start of the tour. I booked online for the 10:00 tour, and got my ticket by email, then the next day I got an email telling me that it was booked up and that I had to go at 13:15. This was not convenient and I had to rearrange my other commitments. Why does your system confirm a booking if the tour is full? Also, I was told to be there half an hour early, so I had very little time to eat before the tour and rushed to get there, then stood around for 15 minutes waiting! Getting to the tour bus was a nightmare - I had to follow someone with a sign, and cross busy streets with bikes and trams whizzing past. Surely it would be better to tell us exactly where to wait for the bus, and give us a detailed map when we check in at your office.
