Private Paleis Het Loo & Giethoorn Tour
If you book between the 15th of October and 21st of March the tour you will receive a one hour canal cruise per person for FREE in Amsterdam.
You will be picked up at your hotel in Amsterdam and driven through the gorgeous Dutch countryside to the beautiful town of Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland. Once in Apeldoorn, your driver will show you around the Paleis Het Loo, or the “Het Loo Palace.” However, the building is not a palace, but a gentleman’s summer retreat home replete with a magnificent Baroque garden. Designed by Jacob Roman and Johan van Swieten, the classic Dutch Baroque house was completed in 1686 for King William III and Mary II of England. After restoration in the 1960s, the building was opened to the public with a national museum and a library devoted to the Royal House of Orange-Nassau. Entrance is not included.
After your tour of the grounds, your driver will take you to the town of Giethoorn in the province of Overijssel. The town was founded by fugitives from the Mediterranean area in 1230AD and is known as the “Venice of the North”- instead of main roads, the village has canals. Aside from biking, villagers tend to get around by boat and most houses are built on islands connected to each other with high bridges. After you get some free time to explore the town on your own, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Amsterdam.
