Description

If you believe that the essence of travelling is to explore, to learn from each other and to get inspired, then join us on an unforgettable walking experience through the famous streets of Amsterdam. Our beautiful home.
Hello, we're a bunch of Amsterdammers. And boy, we love our city! This is why we want to help you to connect to Amsterdam in the most authentic way; through our eyes, the eyes of the people. Real Amsterdammers.
Who Is Amsterdam is more than just a walking tour, it's a truly local small group experience where we move past buildings and landmarks. Instead we will simply keep it real.

Why do we do what we do? What drives us? Why do we call Amsterdam home? And how does history lives on in us?

With us you will discover every topic the city is famous for (bicycle culture, tolerance, sex work, cannabis and more) but through the eyes of a fellow Amsterdammer who is living it.
We'll take you right through the front door and into the living room of our city. The Result? We'll help you to not just understand, but to also feel how it is to live in Amsterdam. Come on this real storytelling adventure and dive into Amsterdam's culture like you've never done before.

Itinerary

Amsterdam is known for topics like bikes, tolerance, sex work, coffee shops (cannabis) and more. During a beautiful city walk through the city centre, we'll move past facts and figures. Instead we'll keep it real and share 8 stories of our fellow Amsterdammers whom we'd interviewed. Each of them is living and breathing a topic our city is famous for.

These are the topics we will cover:

Red Light District
Hear about the first work day and the uncommon story of Rose, one of Amsterdam's sex workers.

Coffee shop (Cannabis)
Visit one of the best coffee shops in Amsterdam where you'll enter the mind of its owner, Ludo.

Bicycles
At a breathtaking bicycle hub, discover how Alex, a "cycle-therapist", sets Amsterdam in motion

Canals
Dive into the life of Amsterdam's own captain Jack Sparrow who lives, works and parties on our world-famous canals.

Family life
UNICEF rated Dutch kids the happiest in the world. Find out why through the humorous story of Tamara and her family.

Diversity
Amsterdam is home to 180 nationalities. We'll share the incredible story of Anya, a former refugee who is now helping other new Amsterdammers to feel at home.

Entrepreneurship
Amsterdam is a merchant city. Meet Ari, an entrepreneur who makes magic out of tap water and lives by the motto, "Be nice or go away".

Beer brewing
We'll wrap up our storytelling adventure with a beautiful craft beer and the inspiring story of Fer, the owner of a very special microbrewery in Amsterdam.

Join us on on this amazing storytelling adventure which was co-written by Mezrab, the school of storytelling in Amsterdam. Step by step, we'll help you to experience Amsterdam on a whole new level. You'll enter and see truly local gems, meet real Amsterdammers and hear stories you won't find in any guidebook!

Together we'll find out, because the people make the city.
